Network Engineer

Are you a Network Engineer who has experience being responsible for establishing and maintaining a global network and its performance by building modern network configurations and connections, troubleshooting network problems, and multitasking? If so, syncreon is looking for a Network Engineer to join our team in Torrance, Californiasyncreon is a dynamic and growing Global 3PL/4PL company that is a lean employment environment and as a result, the NE team has to be efficient and flexible. About the Role


How You Will Contribute
 

  • Works with members of other IT groups, peers, and management to solve network related issues for internal and external customers.
  • Implement network related changes for security and compliance as defined by the compliance and security team.
  • Performs network software and hardware upgrades including installation of OS/IOS, maintenance releases, critical fixes, switching/wireless/routing refreshes and new installs.
  • Define, create and deliver network documentation - hardware/software configurations, change control, downtime/availability, problem/resolution, procedures, diagrams, resource usage, etc.
  • Ongoing management and development of Network tools including Cisco DNA-C monitoring, troubleshooting, PNP and automation.
  • 2nd/3rd level support to production Support and Branch office IT personnel on network related issues.
  • Manage and maintain global switching and voip environment 
  • Manage and maintain the SD-WAN and BGP WAN backbone of the company.
  • Wireless network configuration and management.
  • Perform full network project life cycle on a new site launch including spec, design, configuration, implementation, and monitoring 
  • Participate in global support on-call rotation to support the various geographic syncreon plants and locations.
  • Work one weekend a month to perform network changes including ongoing upgrades/patching
  • Proactively watches emails for alert notifications from the service desk and resolves or escalates these as required.
  • Provides change management support during the weekend when on call.
  • Actively participate, enforce, and follow syncreon’s Change, Incident, and Problem management processes.

Required Skills & Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 5-6 years of experience installing and configuring networks.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure.

  • Experience installing, configuring, customizing, and supporting switches, routers, SD-WAN, access points, and firewalls in a global environment.

  • Experience in working with Cisco CUCM environments and CUBE SBC configuration.

  • Experience working with network application tools including Cisco DNAC or Prime  

  • Previous experience following change management and change control processes.

  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment effectively.

  • Segmentation and/or Forescout experience desirable.

  • CCNP certified.

  • ASA/Palo Alto Firewall certified desirable.

  • Strong experience in routing protocols.

  • Strong routing, switching and firewall skillsets to support datacenter and customer configurations.

  • Willingness to devise creative solutions to solve complex problems and issues.

  • Perform consistently and contributes beyond the assigned tasks.

  • Dedicate themselves to learn and improve upon the existing methods of carrying out Network Engineer functions.

  • Work with their team and internal and external customers in a professional manner at all times.

  • Provides technical recommendations to client systems administrators and application owners.

  • Responsibility to prioritize tasks with input from management

  • Manages multiple tasks, reports progress, and meets assigned deadlines.

  • Maintains detailed implementation documentation and updates as needed.

  • 20% max annual travel required to support network during upgrades, launches, and other events.

  • Capable of working alone in a proactive manner without supervision.
