Senior Manager, Automation & Innovation

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Responsible for driving the company’s approach to automation.  Handle management of cross-functional teams globally to evaluate concepts and move through analyses, pilots, and implementations.
  • Own the Automation Roadmap, Technology Catalog, and Preferred Vendor Matrix.
  • Manage corporate global capital expenditure budget for automation.
  • Manage engineering resources (both direct and indirect) to evaluate concepts and run cost/benefit analyses of automation applied to specific operations.
  • Ensure disciplined project management of implementations across multiple functions of Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Sales, HR, and customer.  Act as program manager across portfolio of implementations coordinating with project leads while as serving as project lead for some implementations.
  • Manage engineering resources to work with vendors and deliver specifications for equipment. 
  • Liaison with key customers on evaluation of concepts and implementations, including serving as lead syncreon representative to priority customer’s management team on automation progress.
  • Work with the Solutions Engineering team and third party integrators to design automation into future solutions in response to customer RFQs. 
  • Develop and execute marketing activities around the company automation program, including social media usage and thought leadership in journals and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience working in 3PL or automation integrator company
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers
  • Knowledgeable in Distribution Center fulfillment processes and operations
  • Experience designing and implementing automation equipment including sortation, conveyance, and autonomous robots
  • Experience in designing warehouses to customer RFQs, including labor, space, and material handling equipment (MHE) calculations
  • Experience in leading cross-functional projects to implement automation in both greenfield and existing Distribution Center operations
  • Knowledgeable in utilizing MS Excel, & PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Warehouse Management Systems, and ERP systems
  • Ability to communicate and present findings effectively across all levels of the business
