European Travel Manager

At syncreon, a DP World company we travel around the world. Besides the frequent business travelling to our various offices around the globe, we also travel to our clients and suppliers. Quite a challenge in organization! We are looking for a European Travel Manager, who is responsible for the annual travel budget and take control in and influence the spending behavior. This also includes managing suppliers and bringing to attention of the management any relevant trends, individual, regional and by supplier.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

In this position you will:

  • Assist all DP World European travelers in day to day travel requirements, as required.
  • Takes responsibility for travel in all DP World European countries and Intercontinental travel as required. Responsibilities include physically booking travel in manually controlled regions and managing the provider or travel agent in automated or outsourced regions.
  • To gain the best service for the best price from all travel providers globally.
  • Directly responsible to achieve Cost reductions as specified in Travel Budget and Objectives. Constantly reducing or minimizing travel costs globally.
  • To own and enforce the DP World Regional and DP World Global Travel Policies in conjunction with the Executive owner of the Travel Policy. In practical terms this means monitoring actual travel and communicating and escalating adherence to the policy.
  • To take responsibility for the entire ‘process’ of managing DP World travel, including managing the existing processes, but also actively looking forward and updating and improving the process.
  • Supplier Management (Air, Car Hire, Hotels) including Order Book Management, Order Progression and Supplier Performance Review and any contractual relationship. This includes working with purchasing on all pricing and contractual matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all Legislative requirements for products within the category.
  • To take responsibility for all centrally held Travel Cards, including authorizations, reconciliation and general card administration.
  • Directly responsible for regional compliance to travel policies and procedures measured through effective monitoring of SAP data.
  • Responsible for suggesting and implementing, where viable, dynamic travel service strategies to ensure competitive positioning of DPW in the industry.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent vendor relations to ensure a reliable, competitive key travel supplier base.

 

Key Qualifications:

In this position you need:

  • More than 5 years of Purchasing or Travel Management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business.
  • Excellent commercial and negotiating skills.
  • Fluent language skills both spoken and written in English, German is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills – written and oral to deal with a wide range of customers, both internal and external.
  • Flexibility needed to occasional travel in Europe, max. 25%.
