Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist EMEA

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Identify, develop, and maintain company environmental management systems, training programs, and procedures in line with all current legislation for the EMEA region.  Perform monthly environmental and H&S corporate inspections and maintenance.

  • Represent the company at external audits on all environmental and health and safety matters.  Ensure compliance to audit standards and work with auditors and vendors to answer findings and complaints in a timely, efficient and professional manner.

  • Design and develop written environmental and safety procedures.  Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in EHS regulations, laws or reporting requirements. Provide technical environmental support and information to all employees.  

  • Responsible for the co-coordination of Environmental Scorecards and sustainability data in the region. 

  • Responsible for the co- ordination of the Environmental legislation registers in the region

  • Analysis of environmental and sustainability requirements for existing and new customers, including CDP updates and customer specific data uploads

  • Implementation of corporate environmental and sustainability requirements across the region.

  • Analysis of risk assessment, near miss and accident data to presenting to the senior management team..  

  • Develop & deliver EHS training programs to reduce work place accidents and environmental incidents including assessment of such training activities.  Administer mandatory EHS training and ensure all newly hired employees, agency employees, contractors, visitors and transferred employees receive proper training.

  • Work with the operational teams to improve the working environment and reduce the impacts to the employee from operational activities as well as recommend environmental initiatives that will reduce the carbon footprint

  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential safety or environmental hazards, and to ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance. This will include property in and around the facility. .

  • Other duties as assigned

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Sustainability is preferred with a minimum of certification in the designated country for health, safety, and environment. 

  • Experience in an environmental and/or health and safety role , preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment as well as experience in developing and administering environmental or health and safety programs.

  • Familiar with country specific health and safety standards including OSHA, ISO, and internal audit qualifications.  

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.  Able to work and be flexible and available for on call hours before and/or after normal business hours in addition to off-shift hours.

  • Able to travel 20% and manage multiple facilities.
