HR Generalist

Position Summary

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting daily human resources operations, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and HR policy implementation. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers while helping maintain a positive and compliant work environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, training, employee relations, and offboarding.

  • Assist with posting job openings, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating hiring activities.

  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure completion of onboarding documentation.

  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, payroll, and HR procedures.

  • Support benefits administration, leave management, and workers’ compensation processes.

  • Assist managers with employee relations matters, disciplinary actions, and performance management processes.

  • Help ensure compliance with employment laws, OSHA standards, and company policies.

  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.

  • Track and maintain HR metrics, reports, and personnel data.

  • Assist with payroll processing and timekeeping administration as needed.

  • Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive HR matters.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources or related administrative roles.

  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or warehouse environments preferred.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and applicant tracking systems (ATS).

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Work Environment

  • Office-based role with regular interaction with employees and leadership teams.

  • May require occasional travel to operational facilities or job sites.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally support operational areas.

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Answer routine inquiries involving the collection, verification, and/or dissemination of human resources information on various topics such as disciplines, records, wages, absences, hiring, and policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by reviewing resumes, posting jobs, interviewing candidates, conducting orientation and training, completing new hire paperwork and communications to the staff.
  • Conduct new hire (safety) orientation for new employees, risk assessments and ongoing (safety) training. 
  • Assist with payroll and payroll related records.  Update and maintain employee information.  Update and maintain HRIS systems.
  • Maintain and gather information for and assists with the preparation of reports.
  • Work with the Employee Representatives (Worker’s Counsel and/or Union) to resolve issues and grievances based on a good understanding of the Collective Agreement (if applicable).
  • Ensure all employees are properly enrolled for benefits, and any changes are updated regularly.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, occupational illnesses and work refusals to determine causes and implement preventative measures to reduce or eliminate hazards.
  • Maintain seniority lists and all other reports and data.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, or business or a field related to the position.   
  • Experience in performing professional level human resources, payroll, customer service, or general office duties in a logistics, manufacturing or related field.
  • Additional education, training and/or work experience in area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office products and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures used in human resources.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local laws, rules, and/or regulations affecting human resources administration; ability to develop a broad knowledge of those of the company.
