Environmental Sustainability Manager

About the role

You will be responsible for developing our climate reduction strategy and execution of environmental programs. You will ensure environmental requirements, climate data, governance and reporting is completed both to satisfy government requirements, customer requirements and DP world requirements, and to provide the foundation for key decision making in the region. You share your specialist environmental and energy knowledge and best practices to the regional QEHS specialists and site QEHS teams as part of the QEHS shared services team. In this role you will be responsible for the carbon collection processes and carbon neutrality programs in the region. This role is critical to ensure that all new customer requirements for sustainability, climate action and carbon reduction programs are reviewed, assessed and implemented in conjunction with the DP world Environmental & Sustainability Strategy. This role will oversee the regional ISO 14001 and 50001 processes and ensure that both customer and DP world environmental reporting is completed in a timely manner – eg: CDP, NQC, Customer specific GHG emissions reports.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

 

  • Development and maintenance of the environmental and energy management systems and procedures, ensuring that legal, customer, standard and company requirements are encompassed in the design.
  • Drive the data collection, calculation, analysis and presentation of our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory (Scope 1,2 and 3) in cooperation with Group HSE.
  • Work with the region to secure higher data quality in particular for Scope 3 data.
  • Support digitalization of our carbon footprint. Secure customer requirements for annual reporting of qualitative and quantitative environmental data to a high standard – eg: CDP, NQC.
  • Liaise with procurement on annual renewable electricity requirements for customers.
  • Contribute carbon expertise to ongoing projects, such as tracking progress towards DP world carbon neutrality goals.
  • Empower the QEHS regional teams by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages collaboration and demonstrates flexibility. 
  • Participation and administration of Integrated Management Systems audits for ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
  • Design and develop best practice environmental procedures, ensuring these procedures are understood and implemented regionally.
  • Develop and maintain environmental emergency preparedness and response processes.
  • Provide specialist guidance for Environmental induction for all employees.
  • Working with the operational teams to improve the environmental performance, reducing the impacts to the environment from operational activities.
  • Conducting internal environmental audits, work place inspections and environmental tours to the prescribed frequency.
  • Responsible for environmental legal compliance audits- activities including record keeping and follow up.
  • Responsible for maintaining a corporate register for environmental legal compliance in the region and communication of changes to environmental laws across the region.
  • Environmental incident / accident investigation coordination including record keeping of conclusions, actions & follow up.
  • Chairing environmental meetings, presenting data, recording actions and maintaining the progress on the actions.
  • Monitor & report country and site environmental performance to local and country management and external interested parties eg: CDP.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Master or Bachelor’s degree in environmental or engineering field or similar.
  • Validated experience in data and reporting within sustainability, preferably in corporate environment.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience in Environmental Management or specialist roles.
  • Very strong carbon account competencies, in particular Scope 3 accounting.
  • Demonstrable skills in data handling in Excel.
  • Ability to understand data granularity whilst also understanding high-level perspective.

 

Preferred:

  • ISO 50001 implementation experience.
  • ISO 14001 implementation experience.
  • Carbon Accounting experience.

 

We have adopted hybrid working: we work both from the office and from home. In this position you will be travelling internationally up to 25% of your time.
