Solutions Engineer

How you will contribute

  • Design Customer specific solutions in response to Customer Request for Quotations (RFQs), contract renewals, major operational scope changes, and innovation opportunities requiring the services of regional Solutions Engineering.  
  • Use knowledge of trends and drivers in our industry, as well as best practice automation solutions, to advise the customer (internal Operations teams) and solution development teams (new business / expansion) on appropriate and cost-effective tools and practice
  • Will serve as lead or support for the engineering of the solution design response to customer RFQs.  Work closely with the nominated subject matter experts across all disciplines to align the internal and external requirements and deliverables to design, calculate, document, price, respond, present, review and plan the implementation of the customer solutions.  
  • Work to standardize and where possible automate repeating elements of the RFQ response process with engineering tools/templates in order reduce the burden of the response effort, reduce turnaround time to assist resource concentration on the design phase of the optimal Customer Solutions. Share best practices and models to enhance cross functional knowledge sharing & enhance individual outputs or reduce lead-times.
  • Work with external partners in the development of automated material handling systems, transportation and storage solutions that meet the requirements of solution proposals
  • Study and reflect upon as is Operations with the view to produce recommendations for the application of technically innovative or automated process replacement technologies
  • Work with internal cross functional and Plant teams to understand, describe and cost integration steps required to introduce Automated process equipment to support the existing Operations. Follow on with representation at Senior team review discussions of nominated technologies as an SME
  • Support the ongoing development of the Innovation program within syncreon, and its application across the global footprint. Input to the change plan for preparing the business for the future state; from software dependencies and site expertise needs to operations Cultural education and infrastructure requirements
  • Accommodate flexibility in working practices to embrace the international nature of this role; Travelling as required and potentially working outside local working hours to cover multiple time-zones
  • Lead or participate in the launch of awarded new business.  Ensure all responsibilities of Launch Engineering are completed on time and on budget for assigned launches. 
  • Prioritize the workload for the supporting SMEs in Operations, IT, Procurement, Real Estate and Finance to determine solution and lead-time feasibility.
  • Other duties as assigned


Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in engineering in logistics and distribution environment.
  • Experience in fulfillment, ecommerce, and reverse & repair; preferably within the Technology industry.  Strong knowledge in design and implementation of automation and sortation machinery.
  • Experience in solution design to customer RFQs including labor standard calculations, material handling equipment (MHE) calculations, space and storage design, and project management of multiple contributing disciplines.
  • Experience in warehouse design/operations, slotting, and launch of warehouse operations.
  • Experience in utilizing AutoCAD, visualization and simulation software, Warehouse Management Systems, and ERP systems.
  • Experience in Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma improvement methodologies
  • Experience in leading process and solutions workshops to highlight issues, discover and agree on solutions collaboratively, detail dependencies and involve all parties impacting by or to the changes, engaging these impacted parties in appropriate change management
  • Passion and knowledge of the application and history of technological improvements in Fulfilment and Merge center business, within Warehousing and Logistics
  • Ability to communicate and present findings effectively across all levels of the business.
