Project Engineer

We are looking for an accountable Project Engineer to be responsible for all engineering disciplines, both technical & process, associated with new business launches across EMEA, aiming at assuring project accuracy, on-time delivery and quality from conception to completion.

 

You will be working closely with the Solutions Engineering team, become the SME (Subject Matter Expert) on the business requirements and pre-defined solution(s) relating to all Engineering aspects of the project, both technical & process. You bring with you a minimum of 3 years experience in Project Engineering, preferably in a logistics or production area. You are flexible to work well in a fast-paced logistics environment and competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects. You posess excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Communicate full Engineering solution (layout, target UPHs, direct labour calculation analysis etc) to the Project team, with the objective of solution optimization.
  • Source, manage and schedule suitable vendors for all required equipment & services to ensure final solution is delivered within Capex budget and within agreed timelines.
  • Attend regular Project team calls & meetings to provide engineering status on key deliverables and critical path items.
  • Support Operations to ensure process target UPHs are achieved, and identify and analyse discrepancies based on project scope changes.
  • Support all functions, from an Engineering perspective until process stabilizes and target UPHs are achieved.
  • Support the application of Lean principles. Apply Lean tools, including standardized work, 5S Visual Factory, Total Productive Maintenance, pull systems, etc.
  • Establish and implement work standards through time studies and other accepted methods.
  • Implement TPM methodology in accordance with syncreon corporate standards.
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of Plant Engineers hired to support the operational organization during plant launches.
  • Research and analyse new and innovative solution opportunities.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices adhered to as per corporate standards.
  • Task tracking, Issue tracking, Risk tracking, Budget tracking.
  • Support continuous process improvement throughout the project delivery lifecycle.

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with an emphasis on Industrial, Manufacturing or similar discipline.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, quick thinking, and a solid understanding of the main principles of Logistics and construction.
  • Knowledge of Method Time Management (MTM) and / or MOST Time Studies preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office and MS Project. 
  • Previous work experience in the field and demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, coordinating resources as well as the ability to analyse data and solve problems.
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills.
  • Good at time management and organization management. 
  • Knowledge of, and ability to implement principles of lean manufacturing, including standardized work, 5S visual factory, total productive maintenance, pull systems, etc.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen / LEAN / Six Sigma concepts and methodologies.
  • Must be able to travel 25% of time. Must be able to work at syncreon locations across EMEA.
  • Ability to articulate and quantify technical risks on the project.
