Packaging Engineer

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Provide leadership and support to packaging and continuous improvement initiatives at the individual work cell level including; packaging studies to analyze effectiveness of the packaging system, development of packaging standards and improvements to existing packaging.
  • Study engineering drawings, physical characteristics of products, customer preferences and materials in order to design, develop, and improve cost effective packaging.
  • Provide weekly Packaging Inventory updates and recommendations based on usage.
  • Review and update the Packaging Instructions/methods in AOS and SAP.
  • Perform SAP Lot uploads based on Bill of Materials.
  • Provide input on the development and/or revision of various policies or standard operational procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and review packaging methods as well as documenting packaging process.
  • Analyze and make recommendations to improve case utilization.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in packaging engineering or related discipline preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Experience in designing packaging using wood and cardboard. Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of rust protection technology and working with a variety of Lean Tools and Concepts.
  • Able to effectively train, teach, and coach hourly team members.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
  • Able to work with frequent distractions in a fast paced industrial environment.
