Systems Engineer

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Follow existing company standards and develop methods to support and improve our processes and procedures for servers and supporting infrastructure.
  • Participate in infrastructure selection and set up as well as takes part in site launch and Infrastructure refresh activity.
  • Provide solutions to mitigate performance degradation issues on server systems.
  • Recommend maintenance strategies to ensure zero plant and customer downtime.
  • Coordinate with sites to schedule any required infrastructure changes and bring together plant personnel and other specialist teams such as Applications, DBA’s, Networks, Systems Engineers and UNIX as required.
  • Participate and have an existing awareness of Incident, Change and Problem Management, capture Data Center specific server and supporting infrastructure documentation, captures site specific server, network and end device documentation and creates / updates work instructions for new tasks or as the steps for existing tasks are modified..
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of computer science, management information systems or a related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • Related Microsoft certifications is preferred in Windows server 2008/2012.
  • Relevant work experience working in one of the following roles: desktop support, 2nd level support, System Technician, Systems Engineer as well as VMware experience.
  • Exposure to and being comfortable working with backend server environments.
  • Experience supporting global users and large enterprise support experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Change Management principles and guidelines and security / Compliance concepts and technologies.
  • Intermediate system design skills, documentation and inventory skills, organizational skills, solid analytical skills, decision-making skills, and strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills with a team player inclination and ability / interest to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
