Senior Account Manager Automotive

For our Logistics Commercial Europe team, we are now looking for a Senior Account Manager Automotive to be based primarily in Germany (remote is possible) and who will report to the responsible Account Director Automotive.

 

As a Senior Account Manager Automotive, you play a critical role in defining the account strategy for the assigned key customers (for both Contract Logistics and Freight Forwarding verticals) in cooperation with the Account Director. The Senior Account Manager is a key function for the customer relationship to align customer’s requirements and expectations with DP World’s capability globally as well as safeguarding a healthy book-of-business. 

 

You will be responsible for meeting and exceeding all budgeted sales goals within the respective approved selling expense budget. Furthermore, the Senior Account Manager Automotive will commercially manage the existing book of business for their nominated accounts and willl drive the organization and successful completion of all contract renewal negotiations. You will act as a counterpart for our Operations teams by challenging business situations as well to leading commercial discussions with the customer. As part of steering committees, you will be involved and support in launching new business and project rollouts for the assigned key customers as well as other accounts. You will be developing and maintaining excellent internal and customer relationships at senior and operational levels in the organization.

 

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Owning the development and continuous updating of the customer's global account plan;
  • Establishing excellent relationships with key stakeholders within the customer's global organization and building new relationships to bridge identified gaps in services or geographical areas;
  • Understanding the customer's business (strategically, operationally and financially) and their buying process as well as identifying all influences and understanding their requirements;
  • Coordinating all growth initiatives specific to the global customer business, by identifying new opportunities to the assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives of the assigned accounts;
  • Defining business development opportunities, drive contract negotiations and developing the commercial relationship with the customer;
  • Ensuring solution development, pricing & negotiation efforts that best address customer needs, coordinating the involvement of Regional Account Management, Center of Excellence and key internal stakeholders;
  • Supporting the key customers within their product development cycles and automotive industry developments, by providing advice on and adapting to changing needs for service levels and solutions;
  • Coordinating and taking ownership of RFQs for new business opportunities and renewals of existing business with the assigned accounts, as well as engaging other functions as required;
  • Tracking key account metrics and alert internal stakeholders of any performance or cost to serve requirements, ensuring action plans are initiated and acted on to resolution. Assist on urgent requests and issue the necessary escalations;
  • Maintaining an up-to-date pipeline of current and future opportunities (i.e. quantifying the number of opportunities, as well as the value of the opportunities and the probability to win), and facilitating and executing Quarterly Business Reviews with the assigned accounts;
  • Coordinating the involvement of other internal stakeholders in order to meet the account performance objectives and customer expectations;
  • Acting as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
     

Your Background & Skills

• Degree in Business Administration, Business Development, Logistics or equivalent;
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the Transportation, Logistics and/or Freight Forwarding industry with focus on the automotive industry vertical;
• Significant commercial/sales experience within Automotive OEMs and a proven track record of having consistently achieved on sales quota at relevant scales;

• A proven track record in building and maintaining excellent customer relationships;
• Familiarity with exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of contractual requirements;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of professional integrity;

• Result-driven and strong collaborative abilities to build good relationships with customers and other internal and external stakeholders;
• Fluent/professional working proficiency in the German & English language is required, any other European language proficiency is a plus;
• Based & authorized to work in Germany, in possession of a driver's license and with the ability to travel up to 30-50% of your time to customers and sites in the assigned region.
