Director of Solutions Engineering

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Responsible for the Customer specific solution design and Best in Class response to Customer Request for Quotations, Contract Renewals, Request for Information and major operational scope Changes requiring the services of regional Solutions Engineering.
  • Work closely with the nominated SMEs across all disciplines to align the internal and external requirements and deliverables to design, calculate, document, price, respond, present, review and plan the implementation of the customer solutions.
  • Work to standardize and where possible automate repeating elements of the RFQ response process with tools/templates in order reduce the burden of the response effort, reduce turnaround time to assist resource concentration on the design phase of the optimal Customer Solutions. Share best practices and models to enhance cross functional knowledge sharing & enhance individual outputs or reduce lead-times.
  • Manage team of engineers to work with external partners in the development of automated material handling systems and storage solutions that meet the requirements of solution proposals.
  • Lead other engineers and/or participate in the launch of awarded new business.  Ensure all responsibilities of Launch Engineering are completed on time and on budget for assigned launches.
  • Ability to alternately work as individual contributor and manage others simultaneously on multiple initiatives and projects.
  • Work with regional leads to present Operational, Technical, and Analytical information in customer and internal workshops as required.

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience in engineering and engineering management
  • Experience within the Technology industry; preferably in fulfillment, ecommerce, spare parts, and reverse and repair
  • Experience in process planning, manufacturing, logistic concept planning, RFQ engineering, project management and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) calculation
  • Expertise in designing and implementing warehouse automation equipment
  • Experience in Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, warehouse design/operations
  • Experience in utilizing MS Excel, & PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Warehouse Management Systems, and ERP systems
  • Ability to communicate and present findings effectively across all levels of the business and customers
