Database Administrator

Are you a Database Administrator who is looking to work with Oracle and PostgreSQL? You will be joining an experienced team of DBAs who currently support Oracle, OpenEdge Progress, PostgreSQL, SAP Basis, and SQL server production environments for our TECH and AUTO customers. The successful applicant will increase the ability of the team to enhance monitoring and performance tuning capabilities and implement new technology and standards. About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Perform production releases of data and structural changes following Change Management and code release.
  • Monitor replication for all Oracle databases and implement automated notification should replication fail as well as perform routine maintenance on databases as required, re-indexing, integrity checking, database shrinking, patching etc.
  • Installation, and configuration of Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g on Red Hat, Windows and HPUX
  • Setup internal QA, Sandbox and production environments.
  • Perform DBA support, Analysis & Design, Development, Installation, Dataguard, Database and Application server upgrades, Performance Tuning and Migration skills.
  • Document all maintenance tasks.
  • Perform benchmark comparisons of database systems as needed. Evaluate and recommend new database technologies.
  • Keep current on emerging technologies – DB Versions, operating systems, scripting and failover methods.
  • Configure Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control 10g/11g for database monitoring, performance issues and diagnostics. Oracle Application 6i, 11g Fusion Middleware.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Your Key Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, business administration or commerce or a combination of equivalent experience. 
  • Required experience with Oracle Versions 9i,10g,11g
  • Experience with PostgreSQL is preferred
  • Not required but an advantage, Progress versions 8, 9 and 10
  • Strong written and verbal skills in English
  • Knowledge of DBA Tools such as RMAN backup and recovery, Date Pump, Data Guard, OEM
  • Working in environments such as HPUX 11i, Windows 2003 and 2008, SQL Developer, Shell Scripting, Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g, APP Server 6i/11g FMW
