Software Developer

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Undertake the full development lifecycle of an in-house global logistics application
  • Produce high quality software solutions within time and budget
  • Provide support of existing applications to an agreed Service Level Agreement
  • Work within a team and focus on continuous improvement and learning
  • Travel to support locations in North America/Europe/Brazil
  • Create innovative solutions to problems
  • Facilitate and support onsite deployments of major projects
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Degree in IT or equivalent commercial experience. High school diploma required.
  • 2+ years Progress/OpenEdge experience
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux Operating System and commands
  • Ability to code to standards and take direction as to general coding methods
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and ideas
  •  Proactive can-do attitude and work ethic
  • Good business process analysis skills
  •  A strong service and business focus
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver to changing business demands
  • Ability to see bigger picture and understand a global application focus

 

Preferred Skills / Experience

  • EDI skills and experience especially Sterling Integrator
  • XML file manipulation skills and experience
  • Experience in REST/SOAP web service architecture
  • Experience in Rich Document production such as PDF and FOP
  • Knowledge of HTML5/BootStrap/jQuery/Node.js
  • Experience in Automation/PLC/Devices
  • Knowledge of source code control applications and how they fit into the SDLC
  • Knowledge of networking and optimisation of applications to operate over a WAN
  • Knowledge of CSS and skills including web design
  • Web Server Experience IIS/Apache
  • Experience and understanding of the Supply Chain/Logistics industry
  • The ability to mentor other developers and take the lead on key project elements
