Operations Manager - Continuous Improvement

Would you like to be responsible to improve key metrics related to inventory accuracy, reducing non-conformance costs, inventory losses and scrap? Are you able to achieve cost saving targets, meet agreed project deadlines and proactively manage customer and stakeholder expectations? Then this is the job based in Michigan is for you! You will be travelling to quite some locations in the US to do improvement waves and help us to drive our organization to double digit year over year growth goals. 

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Help improve key metrics related to inventory accuracy, reducing non-conformance costs, inventory losses and scrap;
  • Review scorecards, performance metrics and KPI’s and identify improvement opportunities. Help develop detailed action plans and provide leadership & hands-on support with execution;
  • Review ongoing performance results to targets and takes corrective measures with authorization, escalate as needed;
  • Manage, coach and mentor operators, supervisors and shift managers across the businesses and facilitate personal development of the people involved;
  • Analyze, optimize & implement inventory control processes to align with syncreon/customer goals and objectives;
  • Facilitate the implementation of operational processes of the other departments. Translate business requirements into system enhancements;
  • Build/strengthen relationship with counterparts by visiting customers & vendors, represent Syncreon in conference calls, business review meetings, workshops etc. to discuss current & future matters in order to align syncreon and our customer’s processes, objectives and strategies;
  • Develop/execute monitoring tools (reports, audits) in order to monitor current performance, trends and to facilitate bench marks with competitors;
  • Accountable for driving change, operational excellence and delivering results;
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the working week.


Your key qualifications

  • A college or university degree related to manufacturing and/or MBA is preferred
  • Manufacturing / logistics background in the automotive industry is preferred
  • Six sigma certification is preferred 
  • A production, materials and quality control background compliment skill set
  • Progressive experience performing professional level operational and plant management duties; preferably in automotive or logistics industry.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write documents using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and customer.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. 
  • Proper knowledge of MS Office applications - particularly Excel and warehouse management systems.
