Materials and Inventory Manager

Do you have what it takes to lead a team in a highly complex environment? We are looking for a Materials and Inventory Manager, based in Auburn Hills, which will be responsible for the daily activities of the materials and MP&L function at designated sites to identify improvement opportunities and optimize scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer. You will be accountable for driving change, operational excellence and delivering results.

How you will contribute

  • Review the daily activities of the materials and MP&L function at designated sites to identify improvement opportunities and optimize scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer.
  • Work with engineers to develop and optimize scheduling models/tools (inbound scheduling windows, material and work scheduling to workcells, etc.)
  • Review, assess and ensure site materials manager, materials supervisors, shipping/receiving analysts and MP&L coordinators manage schedule adherence notifying and escalating within the facility as warranted.
  • Interface with customer (as required) to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence; provides input on local conditions, identifies needs and provides direction on real-time staffing increases or decreases.
  • Help improve key metrics related to inventory accuracy, reducing non-conformance costs, inventory losses and scrap
  • Provide help with warehouse slotting strategy, warehouse set-up, signage, labelling standards, material flow optimization and formulating golden zones based on demand and aligned with customer goals and objectives
  • Review scorecards, performance metrics and KPI’s and identify improvement opportunities. Help develop detailed action plans and provide leadership & hands-on support with execution.
  • Manage, coach and supervise inventory administrators across the businesses and facilitate personal development of the people involved.
  • Facilitate the implementation of operational processes of the other departments. Translate business requirements into system enhancements.
  • Develop/execute monitoring tools (reports, audits) in order to monitor current performance, trends and to facilitate bench marks with competitors.
  • Accountable for driving change, operational excellence and delivering results.

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Experience in logistics or manufacturing, preferably in Inventory Control.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures used in material planning and logistics operations and practices.
  • Proper knowledge of MS Office applications -particularly Excel and warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the working week.
