Benefits Specialist - Associate

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for a variety of benefits-related duties in the US. This role will assist with day-to-day management of U.S. Health & Welfare plans and Retirement Plans, concentrating on benefits administration,401(k),  and wellness.

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Administers various U.S. employee benefit programs, such as group life, medical, dental, vision, disability, and 401(k).
  • Advises employees on eligibility, plan coverage, completion of forms, process, etc. Makes independent decisions regarding eligibility, participation and plan information. Processes benefit enrollment/changes.
  • Answers questions from all levels of employees, investigates problems and facilitates problem resolution – escalating complex problems to Global Benefits Manager.
  • Complies with the provisions of local, state/province, and Federal programs (i.e., COBRA, HIPAA and ERISA) and supports the data gathering and reporting required for filing of reports with state and federal agencies.
  • Reviews payroll records to ensure that employee deductions are made accurately and collected at reasonable intervals for those who are behind.
  • Provides accurate and timely reporting of information with regards to all benefit plans.
  • Processes accurate information with regards to employees and benefits eligibility.
  • Ensures benefits compliance under the guidelines of the plan design and legal parameters.
  • Contact with vendors at insurance carriers (i.e., medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience in a human resources department with benefits administration responsibility, including hands-on administration of respective benefit plans.
  • Good knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to support all levels of the organization.
  • Involves frequent contact and a working knowledge of the benefits, policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of various plan benefit offerings and support of employee benefit plans and programs by managing benefit eligibility, enrollment, compliance, communications and vendor management.
  • Must be able to look at difficult situations and resolve accordingly and within the guidelines of legal parameters and benefits plan design.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
