(EHS) Safety Manager

For our Technology division in Amsterdam we are looking for a EHS Manager who can support and drive our rapidly changing and new Supply Chain Operations facilitating an Industry 4.0 manufacturing and fulfilment plant. Someone with a hands-on approach and tactical mindset, participating in a local/global team mastering the environment, health and safety elements while supporting efficient operations & auxiliary functions. We’re looking for an experienced EHS professional with, preferably, a supply chain/logistics/warehousing background who has expertise in designing & implementing EHS policies and strategies to help drive the safety of our operations to the next level.

About the Role

Tasks and responsibilities
In this position, you will

  • Manage EHS-operational processes and reports – Internal metrics, quality & EHS trends, proactively coach the local organization concerning EHS with tools and reports.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the local applicable EHS management systems, procedures and instructions to comply with local legislation.
  • Monitor and evaluate EHS management system: Generate, interpret, analyze, and communicate results using management tools, graphs, and reports.
  • Provide input on document enhancement and retention within EHS; Maintain ISO 14001, 45001 documentation and controls, administer activities required to maintain ISO certification, and actively coach the organization for implementing & maintaining ISO system.
  • Monitor and drive the EHS performance at a site level and provide direction, advice and counsel to supervisors, managers, and employees regarding EHS and related best practices.
  • Have control over implementation of policies and procedures for the EHS area; this includes reviewing and formulating/revising operations policies and procedures;
  • Manage site specific EHS goals and coordinate it with other departments and organizational units.
  • Build and lead a team of EHS experts in the operational department as the site is targeted for growth and rapid expansion over the next few years; potentially with direct reports.
  • Work alongside the operations, engineering, inventory and trade compliance teams to sign off on Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s) from a health and safety perspective.
  • Proactively participate in the PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) studies when new processes are introduced by giving inputs from a safety perspective.
  • Create and maintain a “safety-first” culture all across the organization.

 

 

Key Qualifications:

  • University/Bachelor's degree preferably in Environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience managing Environmental, Health and Safety management systems in large,  international sites. 
  • The successful candidate will be a strong communicator (English) across all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of international standards and local legislation (is a plus).
